On May 11, the Masters tournament in Rome sold 43,125 tickets, setting a new record for the event. The previous record was set on May 8, when 40,641 tickets were sold.
The reigning men’s singles champion is Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz, who defeated Italy’s Jannik Sinner in last year’s Masters final. The women’s defending champion is Italy’s Jasmine Paolini, who beat American Coco Gauff to claim the title.
Alcaraz withdrew from this year’s Rome tournament due to injury. Paolini was eliminated in the third round, losing to Belgium’s Elise Mertens. She continues her campaign in doubles alongside Sara Errani.
