Kaori Sakamoto, the Olympic silver medalist in Milan-Cortina and world champion in women’s figure skating, held her retirement press conference in Kobe on the 13th. Before the conference began, handwritten message cards from Sakamoto were distributed to the attending media.
The message read:
“To the members of the media,
Thank you so much for covering me so extensively over the years and for reporting my journey with warmth and care.
Throughout my competitive career, I am deeply grateful that through the media, I was able to share my words, my performances, and my many feelings with so many people.
Whether in moments of joy or disappointment, you have always stood by me, even listening to my casual chatter. I am filled with gratitude for your support.
I sincerely thank you for all the encouragement you have given me.
