**What did the former Al-Hilal goalkeeper say?**
Mohammed Al-Da’eay, the former Al-Hilal goalkeeper, renewed his attack on Portuguese coach Sérgio Conceição of Al-Ittihad and the club’s management, criticizing the inconsistent performance of the first team this season.
Al-Da’eay’s criticism came despite Al-Ittihad’s 2-1 victory over Damac on Sunday in the 32nd round of the Saudi Pro League.
Speaking on the Saudi show “Dorina Ghair,” Al-Da’eay said: “I am absolutely saddened by the state Al-Ittihad has reached. I believe that failing to qualify for the AFC Champions League Elite would be a major catastrophe.”
He added: “The management bears the largest share of responsibility for Al-Ittihad’s decline this season, due to several poor decisions at various levels, whether in signings or in choosing the coaching staff.”
Al-Da’eay continued: “Al-Ittihad won both the league and cup last season, so it is unacceptable for them to appear in this manner and exit without any title this season. This is something that irritates any Al-Ittihad fan.”
Regarding the match against Damac specifically, he said: “The substitutions were unsuccessful, and I felt that the coaching staff misread the game, which affected the team’s performance.”
He concluded: “I believe that Sérgio Conceição is not providing the necessary technical solutions, does not read matches correctly, and in fact knows nothing about football. Therefore, the team needs to reassess its technical situation at the end of the season.”
